एक समय था जब होम्योपैथिक अनुसंधान द्वारा प्रकाशित शोधपत्रों को मै CCRH से खरीदा करता था । उन्ही दिनो यह मन मे विचार आया कि एक साइट के रुप मे होम्योपैथिक अनुसंधानों को चिकित्सक और आम लोगॊ के सामने रखना चाहिये । एक छोटा सा प्रयास था http://homeopathyresearches.blogspot.in/ के रुप मे । हाँलाकि मै जानता था कि यह काम नियम के अनुसार नही है लेकिन फ़िर भी उन रिसर्च पेपर को स्कैन कर के उनको पोस्ट के रुप मे समय –२ पर डालने का प्रयास किया गया  ।

लेकिन अब जब CCRH ने स्वयं ही इस बात का निर्णय ले लिया है कि वह होम्योपैथिक अनुसंधान के  शोधपत्रों को आनलाइन निशुल्क उपल्ब्ध करेगी तब इन साइट का कोई अर्थ नही रह जाता । http://www.journalonweb.com/ijrh CCRH का वेब पेज है जहाँ आप होम्योपैथिक अनुसंधानों को निशुल्क देख सकते हैं । विशेषकर छात्र- छात्राओं के लिये यह साइट बहुत उपयोगी सिद्ध होगी ।

छह महीने पहले ब्रिटिश मेडिकल असोसिएशन द्वारा होम्योपैथी के वैज्ञानिक आधार को लेकर लगाए गए सवालिया निशान का भारत के वैज्ञानिकों ने करारा जवाब दिया है। आईआईटी बॉम्बे के वैज्ञानिकों ने अपने एक शोध में साबित किया है कि होम्योपैथी की छोटी, उजली और मीठी गोलियां नैनोटैक्नॉलजी के सिद्धांत पर काम करती हैं।

आईआईटी बॉम्बे ने हाल ही में ‘अलसेवियर’ मैगजीन में ‘ होम्योपैथी ‘ पर एक रिसर्च प्रकाशित किया है। इसमें कहा गया है कि होम्योपैथी पिल्स में सोना, तांबा और लोहा जैसे नैचरल मेटल्स होते हैं। इनके घुलने की क्षमता मीटर के एक अरबवें हिस्से तक की होती है।

गौरतलब है कि आईआईटी बॉम्बे के केमिकल इंजिनियरिंग के वैज्ञानिकों ने होम्योपैथिक पिल्स के घुलने की क्षमता का अध्ययन किया। वैज्ञानिकों ने गोलियों के घुलने के बाद शक्तिशाली इलेक्ट्रॉन माइक्रोस्कोप से इस घोल का अध्ययन किया और उनमें मौजूद मेटल्स के नैनो पार्टिकल्स का पता लगाया।

वैज्ञानिकों की टीम में शामिल डॉक्टर जयेश बेल्लारी ने बताया, ‘निश्चित रूप से अतिघुलनशील होने के बावजूद होम्योपैथी पिल्स में मापने योग्य मेटल्स मौजूद होते हैं।’ सीधी भाषा में समझें तो 4 लाख कणों में से एक कण के कंसन्ट्रेशन के बावजूद यह गोलियां असरकारक होती हैं।

डॉक्टर जयेश ने बताया कि उनके छात्र प्रशांत चिक्रमाने ने ‘ एक्सट्रीम होम्योपैथिक डायल्यूशन्स रिटेन स्टार्टिंग मटीरियल्स : अ नैनोपार्टिकुलेट पर्सपेक्टिव ‘ पर थीसिस लिखा है। होम्योपैथी मॉर्डन मेडिसिन के लिए पहेली बना हुआ है। इसके डॉक्टरों ने इसकी घुलनशीलता और मेटल्स की मौजूदगी पर काफी अध्ययन किया है। इसे हर तरह से जांचा परखा है, लेकिन इसके मैकेनिज्म पर अब भी काफी काम किया जाना बाकी है।

Scientists from the Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay (IIT-B) have established that the sweet white pills work on the principle of nanotechnology.
    Homeopathic pills—made of naturally occurring metals such as gold and copper-—retain their potency even when diluted to a nanometre or one-billionth of a metre, states the IIT-B research published in the latest issue of Homoeopathy, a peer-reviewed journal published by the reputed Elsevier. IIT-B’s chemical engineering department bought commonly available homoeopathic pills from neigbourhood shops, prepared highly diluted solutions and checked under powerful electron microscopes to find nanoparticles of the original metal.
    “Our paper showed that certain highly diluted homoeopathic remedies made from metals still contain measurable amounts of the starting material, even at extreme dilutions of 1 part in 10 raised to 400 (200C),’’ said Dr Jayesh Bellare. His student, Prashant Chikramane, presented the paper ‘Extreme homoeopathic dilutions retain starting materials: A nanoparticulate perspective’, as part of his doctoral thesis. IIT theory proves what some homoeopaths have always known
    Homoeopathy was established in the late 18th century by German physician Samuel Hahnemann. While it is widely popular in certain countries, especially India, the British Medical Association and the British parliament have in recent times questioned homoeopathy’s potency. Around four years ago, British research papers rubbished homoeopathy as a mere “placebo’’.
    “Homoeopathy has been a conundrum for modern medicine. Its practitioners maintained that homeopathic pills got more potent on dilution, but they could never explain the mechanism scientifically enough for the modern scientists,’’ said Bellare. For instance, if an ink-filler loaded with red ink is introduced into the Powai lake, Bellare said, there would be no chance of ever tracing it. “But the fact is that homoeopathic pills have worked in extreme dilutions and its practitioners have been able to cure tough medical conditions,” he added.
    “We had analyzed ayurvedic bhasmas a few years ago and found nanoparticles to be the powering agent ,” the team members said. For the first time, scientists used equipment like transmission electron microscope, electron diffraction and emission spectroscopy to map physical entities in extremely dilution. They could measure nanoparticles of gold and copper (the original metal used in the medicines).
    American homoeopaths—Dr Joh Ives from Samueli Institute in Virginia and Joyce C Fryce from the Centre of Integrative Medicine, University of Maryland—said, “We are all familiar with the simple calculations showing that a series of 1:99 dilutions done sequentially will produce a significant dilution of the starting material in very short order,” they wrote in a special editorial in the journal. But as dilution increases, this theory goes awry. “(But) Chikramane et al found that, contrary to our arithmetic, there are nanogram quantities of the starting material still present in these ‘high potency’ remedies.’’
    The hypothesis is that nanobubbles form on the surface of the highly diluted mixtures and float to the surface, retaining the original potency. “We believe we have cracked the homoeopathy conundrum,’’ said Bellare. According to homoeopath Dr Farokh J Master, the IIT theory has proven something what practitioners have always known. “My instruction to my patients has always been to dilute the pills in water and stir it 10 times with a spoon. Then remove the spoon , dip it in another cup of water and stir 10 times. I advise my patients to do this in five cups before discarding the first four cups and then drinking the fifth cup in two equal doses,’’ said Master.

व्यक्तित्व विकास, शारीरिक भाषा और होम्योपैथी – एक अभिनव अवधारणा ( Constitutional Prescribing ,Body Language and Homeopathy )

होम्योपैथिक प्रिसक्राबिंग मे विवधिता अकसर देखी जा सकती है । लगभग हर चिकित्सक का औषधि सेलेकशन अन्य से भिन्न ही दिखता है । एक उचित सिमिलमम को सर्च करने के लिये कई  चिकित्सक सम्पूर्ण लक्षण ( totality of symptoms ) लेने पर यकीन करते है , कई मियाज्म (miasm ) आधारित प्रिसक्र्पशन पर पर , कुछ उन अनोखे लक्षण  को  तलाशते हैं ( rare , uncommon & striking symptoms ) जो रोग के सामान्य लक्षण से अलग दिखता है ; कई डां सहगल के तरीकों का अनुकरण करते हुये सिर्फ़  मानसिक लक्षण पर  प्रिसक्राइब करते हैं और कई डां प्रफ़ुल्ल विजयकर  का अनुकरण करते हैं जिनमें  रोगी की गतिविधि, ठंडक और गर्मी से सहिषुण्ता/असहिषुणता ( thermal ), प्यास और शारीरिक या मानसिक लक्षण में  बदलाव औषधि सेलकशन के लिये पर्याप्त मापदंड रहता है ।

  इनमे से वह भी हैं जो शरीर की भाषा ( Body language )  और Constitution को आधार मानकर प्रिसक्राबिग  करते हैं । शारिरिक भाषा हमारे चारों तरफ है. यह एक दिलचस्प विषय है और एक है रोमांचकारी अनुभव भी । शारिरिक भाषा मौखिक संचार में तो एक महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाती ही है लेकिन  एक होम्योपैथ के लिये तो रोगी की शारिरिक भाषा को समझना और भी आवशयक हो जाता है । भले ही रोजमर्रा की जिदंगी मे इसकी कोई अहमियत न हो लेकिन अगर हम नैदानिक(clinical) बिदुं से अगर हम उसका उपयोग करे तो उसके प्रयोग सार्थक सिद्ध होते है ।

रोगी का परमार्श कक्ष मे प्रवेश करना , उसका उठना/बैठना , वार्तालाप करते समय उसके चेहरे के हाव भाव आदि एक उचित सिमिलिमम की आवशयकताओं को पूरा करते हैं ।  इसकी उपयोगिता सिर्फ़ किताबी ज्ञान तक ही सीमित नही है बल्कि यह अन्य क्षेत्रों भी उपयोगी है जैसे :

• एक तरफ़ा रोगों मे जहाँ लक्षण न के बराबर दिखाई पड्ते हों ।
• मनश्चिकित्सीय रोगियो में
• बाल रोगों मे
• विरोधाभासी लक्षणॊं मे
• बहरे, गूंगे और मन्द बुद्दि रोगियों मे
• समृद्ध और जटिल मेटेरिया मेडिका और रेपर्टिरी के अध्यन्न को सरल बनाने मे ।
• शरीर की भाषा की मदद से रुब्रिक्स को समझने मे ।
• और सबसे मुख्य बात कि यह बहुत बहूमूल्य  समय बचाता है ।

इसी तरह Constituitional  प्रेसक्राइबिग की भी होम्योपैथिक औषधि चुनाव  मे एक महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका है ।   होम्योपैथिक आधारित constituition का तात्पर्य एक इन्सान के मानसिक और शारिरिक व्यक्तित्व  को परिभाषित करना है । लेकिन यह भी एक सत्य है कि इसकी बुनियाद हैनिमैन ने नही रखी । गैलन (130-200 ई.पू.) और हिप्पोक्रेट्स (400 ई.पू.)  ने मनुष्य के व्यक्तित्व को समझने का प्रयास किया । जहाँ हिप्पोक्रेट्स (400 ई.पू.) का मानना था कि शरीर चार humors अर्थात रक्त,कफ, पीला पित्त और काला पित्त से बना है. Humors का असंतुलन, सभी रोगों का कारण है . वही गैलन Galen (130-200 ई.) ने इस शब्द  का इस्तेमाल  शारीरिक स्वभाव के लिये किया , जो यह निर्धारित करता है  कि शरीर  रोग के प्रति किस हद तक संवेदन्शील है । हिप्पोक्रेट के  Humour शब्द का तात्पर्य शरीर मे प्रवाहित हो रहे तरल पद्दार्थ से था हाँलाकि यह तकनीकी रुप से यह प्रचलित भावनाओं से जुडा था जैसे :

• प्रसन्नता या खुशी का रक्त से संबध – सैन्गूयूनि टेम्परामेन्ट (Sanguine Temperament)
• कफ़ का चिंता और मननशीलता से संबध – फ़ेलेगमेटेक ( phlegmatic Temperament)
• पीले पित्त का क्रोध से संबध – कोरिक (Choleric Temperament)
• उदासी का काले पित्त से – मेलोन्कोलिक (Melancholic Temperament)

इन चार स्वभावों को हम एक सक्षिप्त  उदाहरंण से  आसानी से समझ सकते हैं । एक होटल मे चार मित्र  सूप पीने जाते है । लेकिन अचानक चारों की नजर सूप मे तैरते बाल की तरफ़ पड जाती है  पहला  मित्र देखते ही आग बबूला हो उठा , गुस्से से उसने सूप का प्याला वेटर के मुँह पर दे मारा ( Choleric ) , दूसरे ने मुँह बनाया  अपने कोट को झाडा और सीटी बजाता हुआ निकल गया (Sanguine) , और तीसरा रुँआसा सा हो गया और बोला कि यह सब उसी की जिदंगी मे अक्सर क्यूं होता रहता है (Melancholic ) और चौथा मित्र तो बडे दिमाग वाला निकला , सूप मे से बाल को किनारे किया ;सूप पिया और वेटर से नुकसान हुये सूप के बदले दूसरे सूप की फ़रमाईश भी कर डाली ( phlegmatic)

इन चार स्वभावों को देखने  से यह लगता है कि अमुक स्वभाव अच्छा या बुरा होता है , लेकिन  ऐसा नही है , प्रत्येक स्वभावों के धन पक्ष भी है और ॠण पक्ष भी । हाँ उचित सिमिलिमन से हम उन कमजोरियों को कम अवशय कर सकते हैं या यो कहें कि  ॠण पक्ष  को धन पक्ष मे बदल सकते हैं ।

एक नजर देखते हैं इन चार स्वभावों मे धन पक्ष और ॠण पक्ष की :

सैन्गूयूनि टेम्परामेन्ट (Sanguine Temperament):

धन पक्ष : हमेशा प्रसन्न रहने वाले, आत्मविशवास से भरपूर , आशावादी , बहिर्मुखी और जीवन को जीने वाले ।

ॠण पक्ष :आत्मसंतोष की कमी , संवेदन्शील, अल्पज्ञता, अस्थिरता, बाहरी दिखावा करने वाले और ईर्ष्या को झुकाव ।

फ़ेलेगमेटेक टेम्परामेन्ट ( phlegmatic Temperament) :

धन पक्ष :   अच्छी तरह से संतुलित,  जीवन के साथ संगत, भरोसेमंद, रचनात्मक और विचारशील, संतुष्ट

ॠण पक्ष : आलसी, अकर्मण्य . अपने  कर्तव्य की उपेक्षा ,  दुविधाग्रस्त, अपने कर्तवों  को टालने वाले , महत्वाकांक्षा विहीन ,  दूसरों को भी प्रेरित न कर पाना

कोरिक टेम्परामेन्ट (Choleric Temperament) :

धन पक्ष : मजबूल इच्छाशक्ति वाले , दुनिया को अपने तरीके से चलाने वाले , आत्मविशवास से भरपूर

ॠण पक्ष : प्रचंड गुस्सा , अपने को श्रेष्ठ समझना , विरोधों को सहन न कर पाना , सहानभूति का अभाव , जीवन मे छ्ल , कपट और पाखंड का सहारा लेना

मेलोन्कोलिक टेम्परामेन्ट (Melancholic Temperament) :

धन पक्ष : प्रतिभाशाली, बेहद रचनात्मक , संवेदनशील, सपने देखने वाले , अतंर्मुखी, विचारशील,  आत्म त्याग की भावना से भरपूर , जिम्मेदार, विश्वसनीय

ॠण पक्ष : चिंता और अवसाद ग्रस्त , अपनी प्रतिभा का कम उपयोग करने वाले , मुखरता की कमी , आसानी से किसी को माफ़ न कर पाना , बेहद संवेदनशील

मन और शरिरिक गठन की गहरी जडॆं
पाइथागोरस से जुडी हैं
उदर हिप्पोक्रेट्स से
शाखायें पेरासेलसस में
और फ़ल वास्तव मे हैनिमैन से जुडॆ हैं ।

हैनिमैन की प्रशंसा करनी होगी कि उन्होने Hippocratic temperaments और humors को मैटेरिया  मेडिका मे एकीकृत कर के हमे यह दिखाया  कि हम किसका इलाज कर रहे हैं और वह किस से पीडित है ।
आर्गेनान आफ़ मेडिसन मे हैनिमैन लिखते हैं :

This is true to such an extent, that the state of patient’s Mind and Temperament (Gemuethszustand) is often of most decisive importance in the Homoeopathic selection of a remedy, since it is a sign possessing a distinct peculiarity, that should least of all escape the accurate observation of the physician.

यह बात किसी सीमा तक सही और सत्य है कि रोगी की मानसिक दशा रोग के लिये उपयुक्त औषधि चुनने मे बहुत सहायक होती है । जो चिकित्सक सावधानी के साथ इस निर्णायक मानसिक लक्षण पर दृष्टि रखतेहैं उनकी तीक्ष्ण नजर से रोगी के रोग का कोई भी लक्षण छिपा नही रह सकता |

क्लीनिकल प्रकैटिस मे Constituitional prescribing की भूमिका :

रोगी को देखते हुये मूल स्वभाव को तो हम देखते ही हैं लेकिन रोग ग्रस्त मनुष्य में जब वह स्वभाव मूल  से भिन्न दिखाई पडता है तो उसकी भूमिका और भी अधिक बढ जाती है । जैसे  एक कैल्कैरिया कार्ब का रोगी जो phlegmatic स्वभाव का है किसी कारण वश बहुत उग्र हो जाता है ( Choleric)  तो उसका यह भिन्न स्वभाव दवा का  सेलेक्शन मे भिन्न्ता ला सकता है । इसी तरह मृदु भाढी पल्साटिला नारी तनाव को झेलने मे अपने को असहज  पाती है तो उसमे होने वाले स्वभावों मे अन्तर दवा के चुनाव मे फ़र्क डाल सकते हैं ।

लुक डि फ़िशर ने Hahnemann Revisited पुस्तक  मे एक उदाहरण के जरिये सचित्र इसको समझाया है ।

एक फ़ास्फ़ोर्स व्यक्त्तित्व का इन्सान जो अपनी यात्रा अपने ही व्यक्तित्व मे न कर पाया । कारण समय-२ उसके जीवन  चक्र मे आने वाले परिवर्तन ।  चित्र पर किल्क करें और देखें ।

रोगी मे आने वाले स्वभावों मे अन्तर मानसिक लक्षणॊं की श्रेणी मे आते हैं । और दवा चुनाव मे वह अपनी वरियता सबसे ऊपर रखते हैं । नये रोगों ( acute diseases ) मे इनकी भूमिका भले ही बहुत न हो लेकिन जटिल और पुराने रोगों मे यह दवा चुनाव मे महत्वपूर्ण आधार बनते हैं ।

Useful to the physician in assisting him to cure are the particulars of the most probable exciting cause of the acute disease, as also the most significant points in the whole history of the chronic disease, to enable him to discover its fundamental cause, which is generally due to a chronic miasm. In these investigations, the ascertainable physical constitution of the patient (especially when the disease is chronic), his moral and intellectual character, his occupation, mode of living and habits, his social and domestic relations, his age, sexual function, etc., are to be taken into consideration.

सूत्र ५-रोग के मूल कारण की खोज

रोग नया हो या पुराना चिकित्सक को बीमारी के मूल कारणॊं की खोज करना नितान्त आवशयक  है । नये रोगों मे रोग उत्पन्न करने और रोग को उत्तेजना देने वाले कारणॊं पर तथा पुरानी बीमारियों मे रोग के इतिहास पर चिकित्सकों को बहुत अधीरता और सावधानी से विचार करना चाहिये क्योंकि ऐसा करने पर ही रोग के मूल कारण का पता लग सकता है । वस्तुत: चिकित्सक को रोगी की शरीर रचना और प्रकृति – गठन , शक्ति , स्वभाव , आचरण , च्यवसाय , रहन सहन , आदतें , समाजिक तथा परिवारिक संबन्ध , आयु, ज्ञान्निद्र्यों के व्यवाहार पर पूरी तरह से विचार कर लेना चाहिये ।

    § 213

    We shall, therefore, never be able to cure conformably to nature – that is to say, homoeopathically – if we do not, in every case of disease, even in such as are acute, observe, along with the other symptoms, those relating to the changes in the state of the mind and disposition, and if we do not select, for the patient’s relief, from among the medicines a disease-force which, in addition to the similarity of its other symptoms to those of the disease, is also capable of producing a similar state of the disposition and mind.1

    1 Thus aconite will seldom or never effect a rapid or permanent cure in a patient of a quiet, calm, equable disposition; and just as little will nux vomica be serviceable where the disposition is mild and phlegmatic, pulsatilla where it is happy, gay and obstinate, or ignatia where it is imperturbable and disposed neither to be frightened nor vexed.

सूत्र २१३ – रोग के इलाज के लिये मानसिक दशा का ज्ञान अविवार्य

इस तरह , यह बात स्पष्ट है कि हम किसी भी रोग का प्राकृतिक ढंग से सफ़ल इलाज उस समय तक नही कर सकते जब तक कि हम प्रत्येक रोग , यहां तक नये रोगों मे भी  , अन्य लक्षणॊं कॆ अलावा रोगी के स्वभाव और मानसिक दशा मे होने वाले परिवर्तन पर पूरी नजर नही रखते । यादि हम रोगी को आराम पहुंचाने के लिये ऐसी दवा नही चुनते जो रोग के सभी लक्षण  के साथ उसकी मानसिक अवस्था या स्वभाव पैदा करनेच मे समर्थ है तो रोग को नष्ट करने मे सफ़ल नही हो सकते ।

सूत्र २१३ का नोट कहता है :

ऐसा रोगी जो धीर और शांत स्वभाव का है उसमे ऐकोनाईट और नक्स कामयाब नही हो सकती , इसी तरह एक खुशमिजाज नारी मे पल्साटिला या धैर्यवान नारी मे इग्नेशिया  का रोल नगणय ही  रहता है क्योंकि यह रोग और औषधि की स्वभाव से मेल नही खाते ।

यही कारण है कि  पोलिक्रेस्ट होम्योपैथिक दवाओं अपना अलग-२ स्वभाव  को दिखलाती हैं । हिपोक्रेट के इस विभाजन को हैनिमैन , केन्ट , हेरिंग और ऐलेन ने मैटेरिया मेडिका मे जगह –२ प्रयोग किया है । जैसे पल्साटिला के बारे मे हैनिमैन लिखते हैं , “ Pulsatilla  is suited to a low , tearful , changeable , plegmatic temparemt “ और फ़ास्फ़ोरस के बारे मे लिखा “ quick movements , rapid resolutions , and a cheeful mood are more often found in phosphorous . औषधियों के स्वभावों को जानने के लिये मैटेरिया मेडिका का अध्यन्न तो अनिवार्य शर्त है और उससे बढकर रिपर्टेरी मे MIND SECTION मे चिन्हित उन रुब्रिक्स को समझना और रोगी की भाषा मे बदलने की माहरत होनी चाहिये ।

Conclusion

होम्योपैथी चिकित्सा पद्दति – IIT वैज्ञानिकों की नजर मे

लेकिन मूल प्रशन कि होम्योपैथी के विरोध का  कारण क्या है ?

होम्योपैथिक औषधियों की न्यून मात्रा

होम्योपैथिक औषधियों की न्यून मात्रा को विस्तार मे समझने के लिये औषधि निर्माण की प्रक्रिया को समझना पडेगा । होम्योपैथिक औषधियों मे प्राय: दो प्रकार के स्केल प्रयोग किये जाते हैं ।

क) डेसीमल स्केल ( Decimal Scale )

ख) सेन्टीसमल स्केल ( Centesimal Scale )

क) डेसीमल स्केल मे दवा के एक भाग को vehicle ( शुगर आग मिल्क ) के नौ भाग से एक घंटॆ तक कई चरणॊं मे विचूर्णन ( triturate ) किया जाता है । इनसे बनने वाली औषधियों को X शब्द से जाना जाता है जैसे काली फ़ास 6x इत्यादि । 1X  बनाने के लिये दवा का एक भाग और दुग्ध-शर्करा का ९ भाग लेते हैं , 2X के लिये 1X का एक भाग और ९ भाग दिग्ध शर्करा का लेते हैं ; ऐसे ही आगे कई पोटेन्सी बनाने के लिये पिछली पोटेन्सी का एक भाग लेते हुये आगे की पावर को बढाते हैं । डेसीमल स्केल का प्रयोग ठॊस पदार्थॊं के लिये किया जाता है ।

ख) सेन्टीसमल स्केल मे दवा के एक भाग को vehicle ( एलकोहल) के ९९ भाग से सक्शन किया जाता है । इनकी इनसे बनने वाली औषधियों को दवा की शक्ति या पावर से जाना जाता है । जैसे ३०, २०० १००० आदि । सक्शन सिर्फ़ दवा के मूल अर्क को एल्कोहल मे मिलाना भर नही है बल्कि उसे सक्शन ( एक निशचित विधि से स्ट्रोक देना )  करना है । आजकल सक्शन के लिये स्वचालित मशीन का प्रयोग किया जाता है जब कि पुराने समय मे यह स्वंय ही बना सकते थे । पहली पोटेन्सी बनाने के लिये दवा के मूल अर्क का एक हिस्सा और ९९ भाग अल्कोहल लिया जाता है , इसको १० बार सक्शन कर के पहली पोटेन्सी तैयार होती है ; इसी तरह दूसरी पोटेन्सी के लिये पिछली पोटेन्सी का एक भाग और ९९ भाग अल्कोहल ; इसी तरह आगे की पोटेन्सी तैयार की जाती हैं ।

होम्योपैथिक औषधियों की न्यून मात्रा और आवोग्राद्रो ( Avogadro’s  ) की परिकल्पना

रसायन विज्ञान के नियम के अनुसार किसी भी वस्तु को तनु करने की एक परिसीमा है और इस परिसीमा मे रहते हुये यह आवशयक है कि उस तत्व का मूल स्वरुप बरकरार रहे । यह परिसीमा आवोग्राद्रो की संख्या ( 6.022 141 99 X 1023 ) से संबधित है जो होम्योपैथिक पोटेन्सी 12 C से या 24 x से मेल खाता है । यानि आम भाषा मे समझें तो होम्योपैथिक दवाओं की १२ वीं पोटेन्सी और 24 X पोटेन्सी मे दवा के तत्व विधमान रहते हैं उसके बाद नही । होम्योपैथिक के विरोधियों के हाथ यह एक तुरुप का पत्ता है  और जाहिर है उन्होने इसको खूब भुनाया भी ।

यह बिल्कुल सत्य है कि रसायन शास्त्र के अनुसार होम्योपैथी समझ से बिल्कुल परे है । लेकिन पिछले २४ वर्षों  मे १८० नियंत्रित ( controlled ) और ११८  यादृच्छिक ( randomized )  परीक्षणों को अलग -२ ४ मेटा तरीकों  से होम्योपैथी का विश्लेषण करने के उपरांत प्रत्येक मामले में  शोधकर्ताओं ने यह निष्कर्ष निकाला कि होम्योपैथी दवाओं से मिलने वाले परिणाम प्लीसीबो से हट कर हैं ।

IIT-B team shows how homeopathy works

Mumbai: Six months after the British Medical Association wrote off homoeopathy as “witchcraft’’ that had no scientific basis, we may now have an irrefutable answer to what makes this ancient form of medicine click. Scientists from the Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay (IIT-B) have established that the sweet white pills work on the principle of nanotechnology.
    Homeopathic pills—made of naturally occurring metals such as gold and copper-—retain their potency even when diluted to a nanometre or one-billionth of a metre, states the IIT-B research published in the latest issue of Homoeopathy, a peer-reviewed journal published by the reputed Elsevier. IIT-B’s chemical engineering department bought commonly available homoeopathic pills from neigbourhood shops, prepared highly diluted solutions and checked under powerful electron microscopes to find nanoparticles of the original metal.
    “Our paper showed that certain highly diluted homoeopathic remedies made from metals still contain measurable amounts of the starting material, even at extreme dilutions of 1 part in 10 raised to 400 (200C),’’ said Dr Jayesh Bellare. His student, Prashant Chikramane, presented the paper ‘Extreme homoeopathic dilutions retain starting materials: A nanoparticulate perspective’, as part of his doctoral thesis. IIT theory proves what some homoeopaths have always known
    Homoeopathy was established in the late 18th century by German physician Samuel Hahnemann. While it is widely popular in certain countries, especially India, the British Medical Association and the British parliament have in recent times questioned homoeopathy’s potency. Around four years ago, British research papers rubbished homoeopathy as a mere “placebo’’.
    “Homoeopathy has been a conundrum for modern medicine. Its practitioners maintained that homeopathic pills got more potent on dilution, but they could never explain the mechanism scientifically enough for the modern scientists,’’ said Bellare. For instance, if an ink-filler loaded with red ink is introduced into the Powai lake, Bellare said, there would be no chance of ever tracing it. “But the fact is that homoeopathic pills have worked in extreme dilutions and its practitioners have been able to cure tough medical conditions,” he added.
    “We had analyzed ayurvedic bhasmas a few years ago and found nanoparticles to be the powering agent ,” the team members said. For the first time, scientists used equipment like transmission electron microscope, electron diffraction and emission spectroscopy to map physical entities in extremely dilution. They could measure nanoparticles of gold and copper (the original metal used in the medicines).
    American homoeopaths—Dr Joh Ives from Samueli Institute in Virginia and Joyce C Fryce from the Centre of Integrative Medicine, University of Maryland—said, “We are all familiar with the simple calculations showing that a series of 1:99 dilutions done sequentially will produce a significant dilution of the starting material in very short order,” they wrote in a special editorial in the journal. But as dilution increases, this theory goes awry. “(But) Chikramane et al found that, contrary to our arithmetic, there are nanogram quantities of the starting material still present in these ‘high potency’ remedies.’’
    The hypothesis is that nanobubbles form on the surface of the highly diluted mixtures and float to the surface, retaining the original potency. “We believe we have cracked the homoeopathy conundrum,’’ said Bellare. According to homoeopath Dr Farokh J Master, the IIT theory has proven something what practitioners have always known. “My instruction to my patients has always been to dilute the pills in water and stir it 10 times with a spoon. Then remove the spoon , dip it in another cup of water and stir 10 times. I advise my patients to do this in five cups before discarding the first four cups and then drinking the fifth cup in two equal doses,’’ said Master.

मेरी डायरी – लखनऊ मे कहर बरपाता डॆंगूं

कम से कम मैने अपनी २४ साल की प्रैकिटिस मे किसी भी रोग का इतना विकराल रुप न देखा । कारण जो भी हों इस माहमारी फ़ैलने के लेकिन सच यह है कि होम्योपैथी को छॊडकर अन्य पद्दतियों का रोल केस के मैनेजमैटं को छोडकर लगभग नगणय सा रहा । अगर मै सितम्बर के आरम्भ मे बात करुं तो मुझे निराशा ही हाथ लगी क्योंकि रोगी होम्योपैथी मे रुकने को तैयार नही था । लेकिन मुझे पिछ्ले अनुभव से ज्ञात था कि यह अविशवास अधिक दिन नही रहने वाला है । और वही हुआ .. सितम्बर के दूसरे सप्ताह से अब तक का पूरा श्रॆय होम्योपैथिक औषधि यूपोटिरियम पर्फ़ोलेटम और अन्य चयनित औषधियों को रहा । और होगा भी क्यूं नही .. like cures like का इतना बढिया उदाहरण भला कहाँ मिलेगा । पिछ्ले सप्ताह जब डां राजीव सिह ने होम्योपैथिक औषधियों से अल्प समय ठीक हो रहे रोगियों का क्लीनिकल रिकार्ड , उनके पैथोलोजिकल जाँचे आदि सुरक्षित रखने को कहा तो मुझे भी यह बात काफ़ी हद तक पंसद आयी । और यही बात अन्य होम्योपैथिक चिकित्सको से भी कहूगां कि ऐसे रिकार्ड को संभाल के रखॆं , कई स्त्रोतों पर यह काम आयेगें ।

होम्योपैथी मे लाने का श्रेय डां विलयम्सन को जाता है जिन्होने इसकी प्रूविगं सन १८४५ मे अपने मित्र चिकित्सकों और स्वयं पर की । और आशचर्यजनक बात यह रही कि इसके लक्षण आज की नामावली डॆगूं/इनफ़्लून्जा आदि कई रोगॊ के लक्षणॊं से मिलते हुये हैं । मैलेरिया , इनफ़्लून्जा या अन्य किसी अन्य प्रकार के ज्वर या रोग मे –शरीर मे हड्डी तोड दर्द ( break-bone fever) , सिर दर्द , कमर मे ऐठंन , पित्त का वमन इत्यादि इस रोग के प्रधान लक्षण हैं

अगर आप केन्ट की होम्योपैथी मैटेरिया मेडिका मे यूपोटोरियम पर्फ़ की प्रस्तावना लेख को देखें तो पायेगें कि यह औषधि एक आम भारतीय औषधि जैसे तुलसी और अदरक जैसे गुणॊं से भरपूर कनाडा और अमेरिका मे कृषकों द्वारा प्रयोग की जाती थी । केन्ट लिखते हैं :

All through the Eastern States, in the rural districts, among the first old -settlers, Boneset-tea was a medicine for colds. जितनी बार मै इन घरेलू दवाओं मे से किसी एक को लेता हूँ , उतनी ही बार घर मे ये चिकित्सा के समान ,व्यवाहार होते हुये देखकर मै आशचर्य मे पड जाता हूँ । सभी पूर्वी जमीन्दारियों मे , देहाती जिलों मे तथा पुराने आदिवासियों मे बोनसेट सर्दी की खास दवा थी । माथे को या नाक बहने वाली सर्दी के साथ प्रत्येक हड्डी मे दर्द या तेज बुखार के लिये बुद्दिमान गृहणियाँ बोनसेट की चाय को तौयार रखती थी । इसमे सन्देह नहीं कि इसने ऐसे काम किये हैं और परीक्षण ( प्रूविगं ) मे इसका व्यवहार प्रमाणित होता है । परीक्षा मे यह प्रकट होता है कि स्वस्थ मनुष्यों मे बोन सेट उस तरह के सर्दी के लक्षण लाता है जो पुराने कृषकों मे हो जाया करती थी ।

• लेकिन मुख्य प्रशन कि क्या यूपोटोरिम को डेगूं की एकमात्र विशवसनीय औषधि मानें ?

उत्तर : नही , होम्योपैथिक पद्दति इसकी इजाजत नही देती । हर रोगी अपने मूल स्वभाव के कारण दूसरे रोगी से अलग होता है । यही होम्योपैथी की कहें तो विशेषता भी है और परेशानी भी । एक रोगी ठंड लगने के समय ओढना पसंद करता है और दूसरा नही करता । एक को प्यास अधिक लगती है और दूसरे को नही । रोगी अलग-२ है , उसके लक्षण अलग है जाहिर है दवा भी अलग होगी।

• तो फ़िर एक नया चिकित्सक क्या करे , कैसे इस विशाल मैटेरिया मेडिका मे से सेलेक्शन करे ?

पिछ्ले दिनों ICRH पर कैन्सर कोशिकाओं पर होम्योपैथिक दवाओं के प्रयोगों पर दो रिसर्च पेपर पब्लिश हुये । कल्याणी यूनिवर्सिटी के श्री अनीसुर रहमान खुदाबख्श और उनके सहयोगियों का  ’Homeopathic drugs Natrum sulphuricum and Carcinosin prevent azo dye-induced hepatocarcinogenesis in mice’ और आमला कैन्सर रिसर्च सेन्टर , केरल के रामदास कुटन , हरीकुमार और अन्य का शोध पत्र , ’ Inhibition of Chemically Induced Carcinogenesis by Drugs Used in Homeopathic Medicine ’ । इन दोनों शोध पत्रों मे ’ Inhibition of Chemically Induced Carcinogenesis by Drugs Used in Homeopathic Medicine ’ मे लगभग वही तथ्यों को दोहराया गया जो इसके पहले प्रशान्त बैनर्जी कैन्सर रिसर्च फ़ाउन्डेशन ने अपने कई शोध पत्रों मे रुटा और उअसके पर्योगों पर दिये  थे , देखें विस्तृत वर्णन के लिये यहाँ ।

लेकिन बात करते हैं अनीसुर रहमान खुदाबख्श के शोध पत्र की । यह पेपर लीक से हट्कर था । प्रथम तो इसमे होम्योपैथी के मूलभूत सिद्धातों (  एकमैव औषधि- single medicine ) को नजरांदाज किया गया और दूसरा औषधि के परीक्षण के लिये चूहों का सहारा लिया गया । तो सबसे पहले विवरण :

विवरण :

इस शोध  का मकसद होम्योपैथिक औषधि कारसीनोसिन २०० ( carcinocin 200 ) और नैट्रेम सल्फ़ ३० ( Nat sulph-30) का कार्य p-dimethylaminoazobenzene (p-DAB) and phenobarbital (PB)  रसायन खिलाकर लिवर कैन्सर से पीडित हुये  चूहों पर देखना था  ।

इसके लिये चूहों को सात उप समूहों मे विभाजित किया गया ।

१. सामान्य अनुपचारित;

२. सामान्य + एल्कोहल उपचारित

३.  p-DAB (0.06%) + PB (0.05%);

४. p-DAB + PB + एल्कोहल उपचारित

५. p-DAB + PB + Nat sulph-30

६. p-DAB + PB + Car-200

७. p-DAB + PB + Nat sulph-30+Car-200

इन चूहों को क्रमश: ३०. ६०. ९०.और १२० दिनों के अंतराल पर मारकर उनके cytogenetical end-points जैसे chromosome aberrations, micronuclei, mitotic index , sperm head anomaly और cytotoxicity का विशलेषण  किया गया । इसके अलावा, इलेक्ट्रॉन सूक्ष्म अध्ययन और मैट्रिक्स metalloproteinases के लिए जेलाटीन zymography (एम एम पी) जिगर में 90 और 120 पर किये गये ।

परिणाम :

परिणाम दिखाते हैं कि सिर्फ़ नैट्रेम सल्फ़ ३० ( Nat sulph-30) पर  रखे गये कैन्सर से पीडित चूहों और कारसीनोसिन २०० को नैट्र्म सल्फ़ के साथ संयोजित करके चूहों मे लीवर की कई गांठॊ ( liver tumours ) मे व्यापक सुधार दिखाई दिया और  कई क्षेत्रों मे सकारात्मक और संरचनात्मक परिवर्तन दिखाई दिये जैसे MMPs expression, genotoxic parameters, lipid peroxidation, y-glutamyl transferase, lactate dehydrogenase, blood glucose, bilirubin, creatinine, urea and increased GSH, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, superoxide dismutase, catalase, glutathione reductase activities and hemoglobin, cholesterol, and albumin levels.मे व्यापक सुधार दिखाई दिया ।

नैट्रेम सल्फ़ ३० (Nat sulph-30 )के साथ carcinocin 200 (कारसीनोसिन २००) को देने से genotoxicity , cytotoxicity hepatotoxicity के खिलाफ अतिरिक्त लाभ दिखाई दिये |

 

 Homeopathic drugs Natrum sulphuricum and Carcinosin prevent azo dye-induced hepatocarcinogenesis in mice. Nandini Bhattacharjee, Pathikrit Banerjee and Anisur Rahman Khuda-Bukhshh. Indian Journal of Biochemistry & Biophysics’, Vol-46, August 2009, PP. 307-318.

The study was undertaken to examine whether Carcinosin-200 (Car-200) could provide additional ameliorative effect, if used intermittently with Natrum sulphuricum-30 (Nat sulph-30) against hepatocarcinogenesis induced by chronic feeding of p-dimethylaminoazobenzene (p-DAB) and phenobarbital (PB) in mice (Mus musculus).

Mice were randomly divided into seven sub-groups:

(i) normal untreated;

(ii) normal+succussed alcohol;

(iii) p-DAB (0.06%) + PB (0.05%);

(iv) p-DAB + PB +succussed alcohol

(v) p-DAB + PB + Nat sulph-30,

(vi) p-DAB + PB + Car-200, and

(vii) p-DAB + PB + Nat sulph-30+Car-200.

They were sacrificed at 30, 60, 90 and 120 days for assessment of genotoxicity through cytogenetical end-points like chromosome aberrations, micronuclei, mitotic index and sperm head anomaly and cytotoxicity through assay of widely accepted biomarkers and pathophysiological parameters.

Additionally, electron microscopic studies and gelatin zymography for matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) were conducted in liver at 90 and 120 days.

Results showed that administration of Nat sulph-30 alone and in combination with Car-200 reduced the liver tumors with positive ultra- structural changes and in MMPs expression, genotoxic parameters, lipid peroxidation, y-glutamyl transferase, lactate dehydrogenase, blood glucose, bilirubin, creatinine, urea and increased GSH, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, superoxide dismutase, catalase, glutathione reductase activities and hemoglobin, cholesterol, and albumin levels.

Thus intermittent use of Car-200 along with Nat sulph-30 yielded additional benefit against genotoxicity, cytotoxicity hepatotoxicity and oxidative stress induced by the carcinogens during hepatocarcinogenesis.

होम्योपैथिक दवाओं की गुणवत्ता और औषधि की मारक कार्यक्षमता पर विभिन्न घटकों का प्रभाव

आस्ट्रिया की एक होम्योपैथिक कम्पनी रेमीडिया होम्योपैथिका की साइट पर मुझे  एक वीडियो देखकर बहुत अचरज हुआ । आरम मेटेलीकम (Aurum Metallicum )/ आरम फ़ोलोवेटेम (Aurum Foliatum )पर इस वीडियो मे कम्पनी  के नुमाइन्दे का कहना है कि गोल्ड के इस होम्यो औषधि मे वह गोल्ड लीफ़ का प्रयोग कर रहे हैं , जहाँ अन्य कम्पनियाँ गोल्ड  को chemically extract कर के दवा बनाने मे प्रयोग करते हैं । तो इसका क्या मतलब हुआ कि अन्य कम्पनिया गोल्ड के इस दवा को गलत ढंग से बना रही हैं । इस संदर्भ में मैटेरिया मेडिका प्यूरा मे हैनिमैन के दृष्टिकोण को भी जानने की इच्छा हुयी  । हैनिमैन लिखते हैं ,

"In this place I will speak only of gold, and not of this metal altered by the ordinary chemical processes, consequently not of it dissolved by the action of acids nor percipitated from its solution (fulminating gold), both of which have been declared to be, if not useless, then absolutely noxious, apparently because they cannot be taken without dangerous consequences when given in what is called a justa dosis, or, in other words, in excessive quantity.

No! I speak of pure gold not altered by chemical manipulations." 

तो जाहिर है कि हैनिमैन गोल्ड को chemically extract के रुप मे लेकर चलने के पक्ष मे नही थे ।

हैनिमैन के समय मे गोल्ड को शुद्ध रुप मे करने के लिये मरकरी का अधिकतर प्रयोग किया जाता रहा था । लेकिन १८८३ के अमेरिकन होम्योपैथिक फ़ारमाकोपिया मे गोल्ड को विचूर्ण बनाने के पहले अम्लीय तरीको से शुद्ध करने की भी बात कही गयी है । देखें यहाँ ।

सन्‌ १८८७ मे बरनेट ने आरम फ़ोलियम की प्रूविगं की , एक शोध पत्र  के जरिये ("Gold as a Remedy in Diseases") बरनेट ने गोल्ड की इस प्रूविगं मे उत्पन्न लक्षणॊं को हैनिमैन द्वारा की गयॊ प्रूविगं के समतुल्य पाया ।

लेकिन कुछ भी हो औषधि की मारक कार्यक्षमता पर विभिन्न घटकों का प्रभाव अवशय पडता है । जडी बूटी किस क्षेत्र से ली गई है , उसकी भौगोलिक परिस्थितियाँ आदि भी कार्य क्षमता को प्रभावित करते हैं । मुझे स्मरण है कि लखनऊ मे आज से लगभग २० वर्ष पूर्व कैसरबाग मे जयहिन्द सिनेमा (  वर्तमान मे जयहिन्द काम्पेल्क्स ) के सामने डा. ऐ.पी.अरोडा जी की हैनिमैन लैब हुआ करती थी । उनका  बनाया गया यूकलेप्ट्स ( Eucalyptus) मदर टिन्चर की  कार्य क्षमता सामान्य ज्वर मे अन्य कम्पनियों के बनाये गये यूकलेप्ट्स टिन्चर से कई अधिक प्रभावशाली थी। यहाँ तक आज बोरोन और बैकसन का यूकलेप्ट्स भी उतना प्रभावशाली नही है। डा. अरोडा इसकी जडी बूटी के लिये पहाडी क्षेत्र के यूकलेप्ट्स  का प्रयोग करते थे जबकि सामान्तया दवा निर्माता मैदानी इलाकों से ही ले  लेते हैं ।

इसी तरह दमे मे प्रयोग होने वाली ब्लाटा का रोल अपने देश के काकरोच से बनाई हुई दवा ( Blataa Orientalis ) मे नही मिलता । ब्लाटा की प्रूविगं अमेरिकन काकारोच ( Blataa Americana )पर हुई थी ।

Anshutz की New, old & forgotten remedies मे gaultheria Q का जो वर्णन मिलता है वैसी gaultheria तेज गंध लिये नही मिलती , मुझे सिर्फ़ एक बार ऐसा gaultheria Q किसी स्टॊर से मिला था और उसके जैसा बढिया दर्द निवारक मैने अन्य कही नही देखा । लेकिन इधर कई सालों से लिये इस दवा का प्रयोग क्वालिटी के अभाव के कारण बंद सा कर दिया है ।

Homeopathy in dogs pilot study indicates need for larger clinical trial

Results from a small, rigorously designed, research study at the University of Bristol’s Department of Clinical Veterinary Science have pointed the way towards a larger clinical trial of homeopathy for the treatment of atopic dermatitis in dogs.

Atopic dermatitis (eczema) is an itchy, chronic, skin disease that can affect humans and animals such as dogs. Twenty dogs were recruited to the study from the referral sample seen in the veterinary dermatology clinic at the University.

Dogs were diagnosed with non-seasonal atopic dermatitis and those entering the study had positive reactions to multiple allergens to confirm the diagnosis. Some dogs continued to receive conventional drugs. This category included dogs that had residual, stable and persistent pruritus (itching) despite receiving glucocorticoids, ciclosporin or allergen-specific immunotherapy.

The dogs were prescribed individualised homeopathic medicines by vet John Hoare. Two months after starting the treatment, the owners of 15 of the dogs reported no improvement.  However, owners of the other five dogs reported pruritus scores that were at least 50 per cent improved compared to their pets’ score at recruitment. One of the five dogs improved by 100 per cent and needed no further treatment.

The other four dogs that responded well in this first phase were then put forward into a blinded randomised trial in which they received their homeopathic prescription at some times and placebo at other times. The three dogs that completed this phase of the study improved more with the active remedy than with placebo, and owners were able to distinguish correctly which pill was which.

Dr Peter Hill, who was lead clinician on the study, said "These preliminary data indicate the need for a large randomised controlled trial of homeopathy in canine atopic dermatitis."

Dr Robert Mathie, Research Development Adviser at the British Homeopathic Association, who collaborated in the study, added "We hope that many of the country’s veterinary schools and other specialist referral centres might participate in a multi-centre trial."

The team reports its results in the March 21 2009 issue of Veterinary Record (Volume 164, Issue 12).

High Dilution Growth Factors/Cytokines: Positive Immunologic, Hematologic and Clinical Effects in HIV/AIDS Patients

Objective: Determine efficacy of administering 4 high dilution cytokines; platelet-derived growth factor BB, insulin-like-growth factor-1, transforming growth factor beta 1, and granulocyte-macrophage colony simulatin factor (GM-CSF).

Methods: Sixteen weeks treatment group (“TX”)/placebo group (“PL”): CD4 counts 200-500 and 16 weeks open label study: CD4 counts 1250550, 10 drops/3X day/bottle p.o. growth factor type or placebo. Exclusion criteria: antiretroviral or steroidal therapy. Monthly evaluations: T/B lymphocytes, blood chemistry plus lipids, complete blood count, platelets, erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), weigh, opportunistic infections (OIs) and HIV viral load (open label only). Growth factors/cytokines diluted (10-60, 10-400, 10-2000 molar), well beyond Avogadro’s number.

Results: TX/PL started with CD4s of 330±14 cells/ul (SEM). TX (n=13) raised CD4 & CD8 counts by 13±12 cells/uL and 83±4 cells/uL, respectively, vs. -55±15 CD4 cells/uL (p<0.008) by 16 weeks and -246±60 CD8 cells/uL (p<0.04 within group) by 20 weeks in placebo group (n=9). TX had no OIs vs. 20% Ois in PL. ESR with treatment decreased from 19±3 to 11±2 mm/hr between 8th and 16th week (p<0.01) vs. no change in placebo group, 20±5 to 17±4 mm/hr. TX gained +2.0±1.0 lbs vs. -4.0±1.4 lbs. in the placebo (p<0.01). Viral load was measured monthly in a separate group of patients (n=8) with CD4 count of 242±23 cells/uL. Viral decreased from 203,400±106,300 to 105,000±43,500 RNA copies/mL after 16 weeks of treatment, a decrease of 0.3 log unit. When PL patients were crossed over to treament for another 16 weeks, CD4, CD8 counts and viral load stabilized (112,000±19,000 RNA copies/mL) plus weigh loss was reversed. Eight patients completed 11 months of treatment with ending viral loads of 19,500±6,000 and 38% had no detectable virus, with CD4 and CD8 counts stable at baseline values. Twenty-five percent of patients were thrombocytopenic. During their first month of treatment, platelets rose 23% (111,000±22,000 to 136,000±29,000 plt/uL); 57% patients achieved normal values. Two patients enrolled in a single high dilution GM-CSF treatment, rose from 16,000 to 48,000 and 141,000 to 174,000 plt/uL after only one month of treatment.

Results suggest that unknown biophysical mechanisms of high dilutional growth factors/cytokines may exert immunological effects in HIV/AIDS.
