Homeopathic Mini-repertory App for Covid 19 developed by Liga Medicorum Homeopathica Internationalis (LMHI)

This app has been developed using the experience of medical homeopaths worldwide who have responded to requests for help by COVID-19 patients. As is often the case in epidemics, a small number of remedies are perceived to be helpful by a large proportion of patients. This app is designed to facilitate choice between the three which have been found to be the most common, Arsenicum album, Bryonia alba and Gelsemium sempervirens. Further medicines may be added as and when more data are available. Background information is give in a separate document of the Liga Medicorum Homeopathica Internationalis (LMHI).

Homeopathy pills for covid19 patients from two Mumbai wards with most cases

bmc going for homeopathy

After hydroxychloroquine (HCQ), the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to adopt homeopathy to prevent the outbreak of Covid-19 among the residents of two worst-affected wards in the city. The civic body said all asymptomatic patients in the red zones of G North and K West wards will be provided with Arsenicum Album 30 – homeopathy pills – free of cost.

This decision comes after the Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH), under the ministry of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy), recommended the use of Arsenicum Album 30 as a prophylaxis (preventive medicine) against coronavirus. Earlier, HT had reported that BMC was consulting homeopathic doctors over the proposed medicine.

On Monday, Dr Padmaja Keskar, executive health officer, BMC, issued a circular regarding the implementation of the plan. She directed the ward officers of G North and K West to give the medicine to asymptomatic patients. “States like Kerala and Andhra Pradesh have already started giving the medicines to their patients and haven’t observed any side effects. So, we too decided to administer the medicines in wards with high number of Covid cases,” she said.

Arsenicum Album 30 is a known immune-modulator, widely prescribed for influenza-like-illnesses.

Dr Ajit Funde, associated with Maharashtra Homoeopathic Council, said the pill was showing promising results in other states. “Just like anti-malaria drugs—hydroxychloroquine, Arsenicum Album 30 has proven to be effective,” he said.

Says 24 COVID-19 patients who were given Zincum Muriaticum, recovered before others

Coronavirus in Mumbai: Civic hospital dean bats for homeopathic medicine

Mumbai: In a letter addressed to the Director of the Central Council of Homeopathy (CCH) in New Delhi, the Dean of Seven Hills Hospital in Marol – a municipal hospital serving as a COVID-19 isolation hospital – has said that homeopathic medicine Zincum Muriaticum, at a dilution of 200 C, was given to some COVID-19 patients at the hospital, and that the recovery of these patients was a day or two earlier than other COVID-19 patients.

Joshi has also sought permission from the Director of the CCH – which is a statutory body under the Ministry of AYUSH – to administer the same medication to more COVID-19 patients at the hospital. In his letter, dated April 21, the Dean of Seven Hills wrote, “This is with regards to the use of homeopathic medicines Zincum Muriaticum 200c (Four pills three times a day). When we used this above mentioned homeopathic medication to the COVID-19 positive patients in the SevenHills COVID-19 isolation hospital, Mumbai, it was observed that the recovery of patients was a day or two before other positive patients.”

“We have used this medication for 24 patients, wherein the above outcome was observed. This will be followed with more number of patients with your permission,” Joshi’s letter states. When contacted, Joshi told The Free Press Journal: “I believe in homeopathy, and I have trust and faith in this. I have given it to some of the patients, and the results were effective.”

“I have heard that the ministry is also looking into it, and has said that practitioners of other streams of medicine can also come forward if they have any ideas on how to cure coronavirus patients. I am aware that discussions are on with the central government, and that a letter has been sent in this regard by the Dean”, said Daksha Shah, Deputy Executive Health Officer, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

There is no vaccine or specific treatment proven to prevent or cure Covid-19 currently. Doctors in Mumbai have had a fair measure of success in curing patients with a combination of drugs used to treat swine flu, malaria, and HIV. For want of a specific vaccine or medication for Covid-19, doctors have been forced to fall back on hydroxychloroquine, oseltamivir, and Lopinavir and other medicines as the course of treatment so far. The same line of treatment is being used for patients ranging in age between 35 and 70. The treatment protocol of some of the cured patients shows that this cocktail of drugs has been successful in fighting the virus.

Symptomatic COVID-19 positive and likely patients treated by homeopathic physicians – an Italian descriptive study Report

Symptomatic COVID-19 positive and likely patients treated by homeopathic physicians – an Italian descriptive study Report

by Andrea Valeri , SIMO – Società Italiana di Medicina Omeopatica

In Italy most positive and probable COVID-19 patients are at home if their clinical situation is mild. A group of homeopathic physicians treated 50 patients. The study describes their hospitalization rate, clinical evolution, homeopathic medicines used and gives an updated picture of use, limitations and perspectives of classical homeopathy in COVID-19 extrahospital patients .

From 25 February to 7 April 2020 we collected 50 symptomatic case reports in home isolation, positive or probable COVID-19, followed by the family doctor and, since the patients requested it, also by a physician expert in homeopathy. The patients were in isolation in different Italian locations.

The classification to which this study adheres is the 16sixth WHO classification which is the basis of the classifications of the various Ministries of Health. It divides patients, compared to the diagnosis of COVID-19, into “suspected”, “probable” and “confirmed” cases. Confirmed cases are those found positive to the nucleic acid enlargement method, usually by pharyngeal buffer. Since in the Italian epidemic emergency it is not possible to perform swabs in all suspected cases – and this leads to diagnostic uncertainties -, in order to try to increase diagnostic accuracy we have chosen to qualitatively implement the WHO guidelines with clinical and anamnestic parameters (see below).

The clinical records we considered includes 10 confirmed symptomatic patients for COVID-19 and 40 probable symptomatic patients semeiologically similar to the previous ones.

A total of 24 homeopaths were involved. They are clinicians with extensive experience in homeopathy and are all registered in the lists of homeopathic medical experts with the respective Orders of Physicians and Surgeons.

Each doctor involved in the project was required to send all consecutive cases under treatment, whatever the outcome of the treatment implemented.

Homeopathic treatment was provided by telephone or video-telephonically for safety reasons for both the patient and the doctor.

During homeopathic treatment, patients have continued to take any previous chronic therapies in progress in addition to the treatment prescribed by their family doctor.

We specify that the conventional treatment did NOT include specific treatments for this type of COVID-19 patients, apart from the indication to consider the use of paracetamol in case of high fever.

Patients have been homeopathically treated with prescribed single homeopathic remedies (described with a single latin name, eg Phosphorus flavus) according to their individual clinical course. The details of homeopathic treatment, summarised here, will be specified in a subsequent study .

We publish the results of the 50 individual cases received corresponding to the inclusion criteria, evaluated at the end of the treatment without waiting for a further follow-up. The 50 cases examined consisted of 29 females and 20 males (in one case the gender was not specified).

In the 4 paediatric cases (years 6-9), the average age was 6.75 years; their course lasted on average 10 days (from 3 to 17).

In adulthood (the cases observed were between 22 and 79 years old), the average age was 49.47 years; their course (varying from 4 to 34 days) was 14.09 days on average

In each individual case only one single-component homeopathic medicinal product has been diagnosed and prescribed at a time with only one potency, chosen individually according to the symptoms presented18

During the same homeopathic treatment a single medicine (50% of cases) was used, i.e. a sequence of 2 to 6 different medicines and specifically: 2 remedies (32%), 3 remedies (10%), 6 remedies (4%), 4 remedies (2%), 5 remedies (2%).

The prescribed medications were, in order of frequency: Bryonia alba (21 times); Arsenicum Album(16 times); Phosphorus flavus(9 times); Atropa belladonna (6 times); Antimonium tartaricum (6 times); Eupatorium perfoliatum (4 times); Phosphoricum acidum (3 times); unspecified patient’s
basic remedy (3 times); Lycopodium clavatum(3 times); Sulphur (3 times); Hepar sulphur. (2 times); Kalium phosphoricum (2 times); Gelsemium sempervirens(2 times); Mercurius solubilis, Chelidomum majus, Spigelia anthelmia, Solanum dulcamara, Psorinum, Spongia tosta, Ferrum
phosphoricum, Ruta graveolens, Causticum hahnemanni, Thuya occidentalis, Streptococcinum, Ignatia amara (once each).
