Homeopathy pills for covid19 patients from two Mumbai wards with most cases

After hydroxychloroquine (HCQ), the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to adopt homeopathy to prevent the outbreak of Covid-19 among the residents of two worst-affected wards in the city. The civic body said all asymptomatic patients in the red zones of G North and K West wards will be provided with Arsenicum Album 30 – homeopathy pills – free of cost.

This decision comes after the Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH), under the ministry of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy), recommended the use of Arsenicum Album 30 as a prophylaxis (preventive medicine) against coronavirus. Earlier, HT had reported that BMC was consulting homeopathic doctors over the proposed medicine.

On Monday, Dr Padmaja Keskar, executive health officer, BMC, issued a circular regarding the implementation of the plan. She directed the ward officers of G North and K West to give the medicine to asymptomatic patients. “States like Kerala and Andhra Pradesh have already started giving the medicines to their patients and haven’t observed any side effects. So, we too decided to administer the medicines in wards with high number of Covid cases,” she said.

Arsenicum Album 30 is a known immune-modulator, widely prescribed for influenza-like-illnesses.

Dr Ajit Funde, associated with Maharashtra Homoeopathic Council, said the pill was showing promising results in other states. “Just like anti-malaria drugs—hydroxychloroquine, Arsenicum Album 30 has proven to be effective,” he said.

Central railway distributes Arsenic Album as prophylactic against covid19

Press Press Release from CENTRAL RAILWAY, HEAD QUARTER’S OFFICE posted on 29/01/2020 by Press Information Bureau, Goverunent of India on the Advisory of Ministry of AYUSH to recess the symptoms of respiratory tract tn possible Corona virus infected cases is reproduced below:

“At the instance of Ministry of AYUSIL,Central Council for Research in
Homeopathy (CCRH) discussed the ways and means of prevention of
Coronavirus infection through Homeopathy in 64th meeting of its Scientific
Advisory Board on 28* January 2020,The Group of Experts inter-alia has
recommended that homeopathy medicine Arsenicum album 30 could be taken as prophylactic medicine against Coronavirus Infections,which has also been advised for prevention of ILI. It has recommended one doze of Arsenicum album 30,daily in empty stomach for three days.The dose should be repeated after one month by following the same schedule in case Coronavinus infections prevail in the community.”
In Central Railway,6(six) homeopathy dispensaries are functioning under the Staff Benefit Fund(SBF) at the following Railway Hospital  locations :
I)Byculla,2)Kalyan,3)Bhusaval,4)Pune,5)Nagpur,6)Solapur
In view of the above Advisory of Ministry of AYUSH,it is recommended that all six homeopathy dispensaries on CR may procure sufficient quantity of homeopathy medicine Arsenicum Album 30 and use as prophylactic medicine against Coronavirus infections subject to the approval of the Consultant (Doctor).It is advised that the additional cost towards the procurement of sufficient quantity of homeopathy medicine Arsenicum album 30 will be reimbursed by the SBF. “
