Objectives: The objectives of the study were to evolve a group of most effective homoeopathic medicines in chronic cervicitis and cervical erosion and to identify their reliable indications, useful potencies, frequency of administration and relationship with other medicines.

Methods: The study was undertaken by Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy at its Units/Institute at Shimla, Imphal, Varanasi, Tirupathi and New Delhi. Cases of Cervicitis and Cervical erosion, presenting with vaginal discharge, low backache, lower abdominal pain/discomfort or dyspaerunia confirmed by P/V & P/S examination were enrolled in the study. Cases suffering from other chronic disease(s) or under other system of treatment were excluded from the study. Homoeopathic medicines were prescribed on the basis of totality of symptoms of each case, in mother tincture (Q) or 6C, 30C, 200C & 1M potency. A total of 3213 cases were followed up for one year. Assessment of improvement was done on predefined parameters.

Results: There was varying degrees of improvement; 261 cases were cured, 1104 cases improved markedly, 982 cases moderately, 713 cases mildly and 153 cases did not improve. Medicines found effective were: Alumina(n=114), Borax(n=67), Calcarea carbonicum(n=200), Caulophyllum(n=170), Hydrastis(n=110), Kreosotum(n=300), Lachesis(n=160), Mercurius solubilis (n=74), Natrum muriaticum(n=97), Pulsatilla(n=429) and Sepia(n=433). A few of the cases, who required repeated cauterization in the past, got cured permanently and required no cauterization after homoeopathic treatment.

Conclusion: Sepia alone emerged as the most frequently indicated medicine for Cervicitis and Cervical erosion. The objective to identify indications of homoeopathic medicines was achieved. But, other objectives, such as relationship between different medicines, could not be achieved.

This Clinical  study was undertaken under guidance of Dr. V.P. Singh
Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy , New Delhi at the RRI, Mumbai (May, 1989) and CRU, Chennai (October, 1991)  by CCRH to ascertain whether homoeopathy can play a role in the treatment and management of HIV infection . The results obtained during the pilot study prompted a randomized placebo controlled study at Mumbai (1995-97). The results of the study were published in the British Homeopathic Journal (1999).

In  between April 1998 and March 2003  , 237 HIV infected individuals including, 96 Females and 8 children less than 10 years of age were enrolled in the study .Three of these individuals were suffering from concurrent Hepatitis B infection and 2 were reactive to VDRL . Amyleum Nitrosum, Azathioprine,
Cocainum Muriaticum and Cyclosporine were primarily used as medicines under trial . Other Homoeopathic medicines were used only during seasonal minor ailments based on presenting signs and symptoms.

Assessment of Outcome :

• The response to the treatment was assessed at the end of the study and was based on the change in clinical presentation
• The response to treatment was also assessed by the haematological and immunological  investigations such as CD4/CD8 counts
• Most of these investigations were conducted at the Council’s HIV Research Lab.

कृषि क्षेत्र मे होम्योपैथिक दवाओं के सफ़ल प्रयोगों के परीक्षण एक कौतुहूल और जिज्ञासा का विषय है । कम से कम होम्योपैथी को संदेह की दृष्टि से देखने वालों के लिये तो विशेष रूप से ही हाँ , कृषि क्षेत्र से जुडे वैज्ञानिकों का मानना है कि जैसे होम्योपैथी दवावों के दुष्प्रभाव मनुष्यों पर नहीं पाये जाते वैसे ही यह औषधियाँ पेड और पौधों के लिये भी सुरक्षित हैं । कम लागत की यह होम्योपैथिक दवायें कम से कम अपने देश मे किसानों को काफ़ी राहत दे सकती हैं और साथ ही मे पेड पौधों पर निर्भर रहने वाले जीव -जन्तु को असमय विलुप्त होने से बचा भी सकती हैं ।  हजारों होम्योपैथिक दवाओं के सफ़ल परीक्षण हो चुके हैं और इनमें से कुछ के परिणाम उपलब्ध हैं । इनमे से ९०% रिसर्च अपने देश मे ही हुयी है  ; डां पंकज अवधिया जी द्वारा किये प्रयोग और पाकिस्तान में डां इफ़्ताकार वारिस द्वारा लिये गये सफ़ल परिणामों से क्या शेष विशव का होम्योपैथी से मुँह मोडना संभव   है ।  sceptics या होम्योपैथी के बारे मे अनर्गल  प्रचार-प्रसार करने वाले , सुबह शाम इस चिकित्सा पद्दति को गालियों से नवाजने वाले कितने समय तक तथ्यों से अपना मुँह मोड सकेगें ।

बौवल नोसोडस ( Bowel Nosodes ) का चलन होम्योपैथी मे कम ही है , शायद इसकी उपलब्धता सहज ही होम्योपैथिक स्टोरों मे न होने की वजह से ही ; बिल्कुल ठीक वैसे ही जैसे कि बैच फ़्लावर औषधियों का प्रिसक्रिप्शन देख कर  अक्सर स्टॊर वाले ऐलोपैथिक औषधि कह कर टाल जाते हैं । वैसे उनको भी दोष देना उचित नही लगता , जहाँ तक मुझे याद है कि B.H.M.S. के पाठयक्रम में   बैच फ़्लावर औषधियों और बौवल नोसोडस का समावेश नही हैं , बैच फ़्लावर का प्रयोग मैने शुरु मे डां जयश्री जोशी और बाद मे अपने शहर लखनऊ से ही मित्र डां अभिषेक जैन के सफ़ल परिणामों को देखते हुये किया और यह कहना गलत न होगा कि कुछ जगह तो उनके परिणाम बहुत ही आशचर्य चकित करने वाले दिखते हैं ।

लेकिन बौवल नोसोडस की मुझे क्यों याद आई ! दरअसल शायद ४-५ दिन पूर्व आइरिश स्कूल आफ़ होम्योपैथी के एक सदस्य मार्क ओ सूलवियन ने बौवल नोसोडस पर किये प्रोजेक्ट को आइरिश ग्रुप आफ़ होम्योपैथैस मे डाला । ग्रुप के moderator  ने अन्य सदस्यों से अनुरोध किया कि अपने कम्पयूटर की हार्ड डिस्क को खंगालें और होम्योपैथी से जुडी अपने-२  अध्यापन कार्य  को सार्वजनिक करें ; एक अच्छा  सुझाव ! अन्य कई साईट पर अपने-२ गुणगानों को देखते-सुनते तबियत ऊबने सी लगी थी ।

बौवल नोसोडस से संबधित होम्योपैथिक औषधियों को लाने का श्रेय डां ईडवर्ड बैच को सर्वप्रथम रहा और बाद मे डां पैटर्सन और उनकी पत्नी ने बैच के अधूरे काम को आगे बढाया । बौवल नोसोडस से संबधित होम्योपैथिक औषधियाँ human intestinal flora के non fermenting lactose bacteria से बनाई जाती हैं , बैच ने पाया कि ऐसे non fermenting lactose bacteria की तादाद स्वस्थ मनुष्य की अपेक्षा रोगी के मल मे अधिक पायी जाती है । अब तक इन बैक्टैरिया को हानिकारक नही माना जाता रहा है , बैच ने इन बैक्टैरिया को पोटेन्टाइज करके अलग-२ औषधियाँ बनाई और उनकी drug proving  की ।

बोवेल नोसोडस से तैयार औषधियाँ कई हैं लेकिन जो आमतौर से प्रयोग आती रही हैं , वह निम्म हैं :

थायरोड हार्मोन का कार्य material doses मे टैडपोल के मेढंक मे कायाकल्प ( morphogenesis) की प्रक्रिया  को तेज  करना देखा गया है  । आस्ट्रिया के शोधकर्ताओं ने होम्योपैथिक तरीके से बनाई गई थाइरोक्सिन 10⁻³⁰ ( thyroxine 10⁻³⁰ ) के घोल मे टैडपोल को रख के देखा कि इससे मेढंक बनने की  कायाकल्प की प्रक्रिया धीमी होती पायी गई । इस शोध का महत्व बहुत अधिक है क्योंकि यह उन लोगों के मुँह मे ताला लगा सकता है जो होम्योपैथी को अवैज्ञानिक और बकवास कहते रहते हैं ।

For many years, a group of researchers in Austria has experimented
with homeopathic doses of THYROXIN (a thyroid hormone).  They have given it
to tadpoles and found that it slows down their morphogenesis into frogs.
This effect makes sense from a homeopathic point of view because this
thyroid hormone in material doses normally speeds up the tadpoles evolution
into frog-dom.
       This research has now been replicated many times, and what is so
interesting is that the researchers can show the differences in photos
between those tadpoles given the homeopathic medicine and those given a
placebo.
       This study below was replicated in FIVE laboratories!

The effect of homeopathically prepared thyroxine on highland frogs: influence of electromagnetic fields

Abstract

Background: Previous experiments show that amphibian larvae are responsive to homeopathically prepared thyroxine.

Methods: We studied the effect of a highly diluted and agitated thyroxine solution exposed to various electromagnetic fields on metamorphosis in highland Rana temporaria. The devices tested were: microwave oven, mobile phone, airport X-ray, and a red light barcode scanner. Animals were treated either with homeopathically prepared thyroxine (10⁻³⁰ parts by weight, 10⁻³⁵ in the water in which the animals were kept), or analogously prepared blank solution, or analogously prepared thyroxine exposed to the electromagnetic field of one of the devices tested. Solutions were administered at 48 h intervals according to a standardized protocol.

Results: Animals treated with the standard test solution thyroxine 10⁻³⁰ metamorphosed more slowly than the control animals, ie the effect of the homeopathically prepared thyroxine was opposed to the usual physiological effect of molecular thyroxine. The cumulative number of test animals that had reached the four-legged stage at defined points in time was smaller in the group treated with homeopathically prepared thyroxine at most of the points in time. This was found independently by all three research teams involved.

In contrast, this effect did not occur when the thyroxine solution had been exposed to the field of the early model microwave oven, or mobile phone. There was no difference between aqueous or alcoholic solutions were used, and there was, if any, only a small protective effect from aluminum foil. Airport X-ray and red light barcode scanning did not diminish the effect of the homeopathic solution.

रजोनिवृति महिलाओं मे उत्पन्न होने वाली वह  शरीर की स्वभाविक प्रक्रिया है जहाँ मासिक धर्म ४५-५० साल की आयु मे पहुँचते-२ कम और बाद मे बन्द  हो जाता है । और इसके दौरान उत्पन्न होती हैं कई प्रतिक्रियायें जैसे चिडचिडापन , बहुत गर्मी लगना , हाथ पैर मे जलन होना,सोते समय शरीर से  पसीना आना , सेक्स से वितृष्णा होना आदि । मेडिकल भाषा मे इसे hot flushes कहा जाता है ।

When a woman reaches her late forties or early fifties, her periods grind to a halt. Menopause marks the move from the reproductive years to a cessation in fertility. This literally means that her supply of eggs, which is determined at birth, has been used up.
For some this change of life comes smoothly and all she notices is that she no longer has her periods. But for others, the change is more rocky and causes much distress with symptoms of hot flushes, night sweats, vaginal dryness and irritation, poor libido, frequent urinary tract infections, poor memory and concentration, fatigue, depression, headaches, weight gain and heart palpitations.
Nearly three-quarters of all menopausal women experience hot flushes which have been described as one of the most distressing symptoms.
Hot flushes (or hot flashes) come unexpectedly. It’s the sudden feeling of intense heat that one feels all over the face and upper body. The skin may turn red and the body starts to sweat. Hot flushes at night disturb a woman’s sleep and can be so severe as to cause the bedding to be soaked in sweat.

आठ देशों के ९९ चिकित्सकों ने औसतन ५५ वर्ष तक की ४३८ महिलाओं पर यह क्लीकल परीक्षण किये । जिन औषधियों को मूलत: प्रयोग किया उनमे  Lachesis mutus, Belladonna, Sepia officinalis, Sulphur और  Sanguinaria canadensis प्रमुख थीं ।

There is great controversy concerning treatment for menopausal symptoms. We evaluated homeopathic treatments for hot flushes and their effect on quality of life in menopausal women.

Methods

Open, multi-national prospective, pragmatic and non-comparative observational study of homeopathic treatments prescribed and their effectiveness, observing their impact on quality of life.

Results

Ninety-nine physicians in 8 countries took part in this study and included 438 patients with an average age of 55.

Homeopathic medicines were prescribed to all patients; 98% of the prescription lines were for homeopathic medicines. Lachesis mutus, Belladonna, Sepia officinalis, Sulphur and Sanguinaria canadensis were the most prescribed. A non-homeopathic treatment and/or food supplement prescribed for 5% of the patients.

This observational study revealed a significant reduction (p<0.001) in the frequency of hot flushes by day and night and a significant reduction in the daily discomfort they caused (mean fall of 3.6 and 3.8 points respectively, on a 10 cm visual analogue scale; p<0.001).

Ninety percent of the women reported disappearance or lessening of their symptoms, these changes mostly taking place within 15 days of starting homeopathic treatment.

Conclusions

The results of this observational study suggest that homeopathic treatment for hot flushes in menopausal women is effective. Further studies including randomized controlled trials should be conducted.

सिनेमा और मेरा साथ बडी मुशकिल से ही होता है , नये साल के पहले ही दिन जब घर मे  सबने तय कर लिया  कि ” तारे जमीन पर” देखनी है तो मरता क्या न करता । रात की  क्लीनिक  दस बजे खत्म करने के बाद  सहारागंज के पी.वी.आर. मे रात ११ बजे  सपरिवार धमक ही गये । रात लगभग २ बजे तक चली इस  फ़िल्म के दौरान न तो नींद का एक भी झोंका आया और न ही नजरें इधर-उधर  गई । कारण , यह फ़िल्म है ही इतनी अनूठी कि जो भी जिस वर्ग से है उसको सोचने पर मजबूर कर देगी ।
  यह फ़िल्म आठ साल के उस बच्चे ( ईशान ) की है जिस की अपनी दुनिया है । अपने मे खोया ,अपने मे ही मस्त , सारे जहाँ की मुसीबत अपनी जगह लेकिन उसकी दुनिया मे एक अलग तरह की मस्ती का आलम है । वह मछलियों को उडते देख सकता है लेकिन उसके साथ दिक्कत यह है कि वह अंग्रेजी वर्णमाला के  बी और डी मे भेद नही कर पाता । सीधे शब्दों को वह उल्टा बनाता है और जब तीन का पहाडा उसको सुनाने के लिये कहा जाता है तो वह अपनी जादुई दुनिया मे खो जाता है और ग्रहों की टकराहट को याद करके जबाब देता है । स्कूल मे उसका उपहास उसके साथियों और शिक्षकों द्वारा उडाया जाता है  और यहाँ तक घर मे भी  माता-पिता उसको समझ नही पाते और उसकी हरकतों से तंग आकर उसको बोर्डिग स्कूल मे डाल देते हैं । वह उदास सा रहने लगता है , लेकिन उसकी उदासी को उस स्कूल का एक टीचर ( आमिर ) पहचान लेता है , वह स्कूल के प्रिसंपल , टीचर और उसके घर वालों को भी समझाता है कि ईशान डिस्लेक्सिया से पीडित है । डिस्लेक्सिया पढने से संबंधी एक विकार है । इसमे बच्चों को शब्दों को पहचानने , पढने , याद करने और बोलने मे भी परेशानी आती है । वह कुछ अक्षरों को उच्चारित भी कर सकते हैं लेकिन उनकी पढने की रफ़्तार और बच्चॊं की अपेक्षा काफ़ी कम होती है । यह विकार ३-१५ साल के सामान्य जनसंख्या के लगभग ३% बच्चॊं मे पाया जाता है । और देशॊं के बारे मे नही कह सकते लेकिन अपने देश मे वह चाहे माता-पिता हों या स्कूल की शिक्षा -प्रणाली डिस्लेक्सिया से पीडित बच्चॊं की समस्या से मुँह मोडते हुये दिखती है । कुछ हद तक यह भी कह सकते हैं कि शायद आम लोगों को जागरुक करने का काम ही नही हुआ । अधिकतर केस मे बच्चे को मंद बुद्दि कह कर उसके अन्दर छुपी प्रतिभा को नंजरंदाज ही किया जाता तहा है । आमिर को साधुवाद कि इस फ़िल्म के माध्यम से समाज के हर वर्ग मे एक संदेश देने की पहल की । ऐसी फ़िल्में अपने देश मे बहुत कम ही बनती हैं और आमिर हम आप से आगे भी उम्मीद रखेगें कि ऐसे अछूते विषयों पर फ़िल्मे बनाने का काम जारी रखें । डिस्लेक्सिया को समझने के लिये इस वीडियो को ध्यान से देखें :

फ़िल्म छूटने के बाद मेरा ध्यान मेरे परिचित  की १० वर्षिया लडकी की तरफ़ गया जो कि डिस्लेकिस्या से पीडित है लेकिन इधर एक साल से उसमे मैने काफ़ी अच्छे परिवर्तन देखे । वह दमे से मूलत: पीडित है और काफ़ी ऐलोपैथिक इलाज करवाने के बावजूद उसकी समस्या सिर्फ़ कुछ दिनों तक ही आराम मे दिखती रही । उसकी माँ ने लखनऊ  के ही एक वरिष्ठ एलोपैथिक चिकित्सक की मदद ली जो होम्योपैथिक पद्दति का अच्छा ज्ञान रखते हैं और अपनी पद्दति के अलावा होम्योपैथी को जटिल रोगों मे अक्सर कई रोगियों मे देते रहे हैं ।  लेकिन यह भी सच था कि उसकी माँ ने दमे के लिये चिकित्सक से संपर्क किया था , डिस्लेकिस्या के बारे मे तो उसका ज्ञान न के बराबर था । दमे ( asthma ) से होने वाले attacks मे होम्योपैथिक औषधियों के प्रभाव से तो काफ़ी कमी आई लेकिन साथ मे उसकी याददाश्त ,लिखावट और  पढने -लिखने मे एक अच्छा बदलाव भी दिखा । मेरी उत्सुकता कम से कम दवाओं मे तो बिल्कुल भी न थी  क्योंकि हर रोगी होम्यो्पैथिक दृष्टिकोण  से अलग-२ होता है और दवाये भी अलग-२ निकलती हैं । कई सालो से जिस लडकी का पास होना भी मुशिकल था उसमे इतना बदलाव ! सब के लिये  लिये आशचर्य ही था ! लेकिन यह शायद यह किसी चारित्रिक लक्षणॊं ( constitutional symptoms ) पर आधारित चयन की गई औषधि का काम हो सकता था ।
अगले दिन मेरे ध्यान मे आया कि क्यों नही रिपर्टरी मे सर्च कर के देखें कि डिस्लेक्सिया पर होम्योपैथी मे क्या  हो सकता है । आखिरकार सिन्थिसीस रिपर्टरी ( synthesis repertory ) मे इसका पूरा उल्लेख मिला ।

यहाँ कोई दावों और प्रतिदावों जैसी कोई बात नही है , यह सिर्फ़ एक संभावनाओं की ओर इशारा कर रही है , आगे देखना यह काम चिकित्सा क्षेत्र से जुडॆ लोगों का है कि वह होम्योपैथी को होम्योपैथी के तरीकों से ही समझें और प्रयोग मे लाकर देखें , ताकि हम समाज के उस बहुत महत्वपूर्ण ईकाई को नजरान्दाज न कर सकें ।

हाँलाकि यह खबर शायद क्लासिकल होम्योपैथिक चिकित्सकों को रास न आये लेकिन Gripp Heel नाम का यह ब्रांड जो फ़िलहाल अपने देश मे नही उपलब्ध है , इसका असर श्वास  से संबधित कुछ वाइरस पर देखा गया  हैं । देखें पूरी रिपोर्ट :

Gripp-Heel(R) is a homeopathic preparation frequently used in the treatment of respiratory viral infections such as various types of influenza and the common cold.

.Ingredients:
Plant pharmacological group:Aconitum napellus 4X (hoarseness; dry croupy cough), Bryonia alba 4X (dry mucous membranes; all symptoms worse with motion), Eupatorium perfoliatum 3X (hoarseness and cough; chest soreness)
Mineral pharmacological group:
Phosphorus 5X (painful larynx; breathing quickened)
Immunonodulator group:
Lachesis mutus 12X (left-sided sore throat)

The antiviral activity of Gripp-Heel was studied in vitro on human pathogenic enveloped and nonenveloped RNA and DNA viruses. Before the antiviral assays, in vitro cytotoxicity of Gripp-Heel was determined with cells used for the infection experiments (HeLa, HEp-2, MDCK, BGM) as well as with mitogen-stimulated peripheral blood mononuclear leukocytes. A concentration of 0.5 of the commercially available product slightly reduced cell viability and proliferative capacity, and experiments on antiviral activity were determined starting with a dilution of 0.2 of the commercially available product. The antiviral activity was determined against a broad panel of enveloped and nonenveloped DNA and RNA viruses with plaque reduction assay, cytopathogenic assays, virus titrations, analysis of the viral proteins in virus-specific enzyme immunoassays, and haemagglutination tests. Control substances were acyclovir (10 mug/mL), ribavirin (6 mug/mL), and amantadine hydrochloride (5 mug/mL), depending on the virus type. Gripp-Heel demonstrated dose-dependent in vitro activity (significant reductions of infectivity by 20% to 40%) against Human herpesvirus 1, Human adenovirus C serotype 5, Influenza A virus, Human respiratory syncytial virus, Human parainfluenza virus 3, Human rhinovirus B serotype 14, and Human coxsackievirus serotype A9. The mechanisms of this antiviral activity are still unclear, but type I interferon induction might be a possible explanation. Further research on this homeopathic preparation seems warranted.
